Types of Leave – Radiology Partners

If you wish to initiate a leave of absence, reach out to your HR representative. There may be leaves afforded to you through your practice or defined in your EA that may not be described here. Depending on your work state, you may be entitled to other statutory leaves or paid benefits. Reach out to LOA@radpartners.com for more information.

Family Medical Leave (FML)

To be eligible for FML, you must have been employed a total of 12 months (excluding any seven year gap in employment) and have worked at least 1,250 hours in the 12 months preceding your leave start date. You are allowed to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for:

  • The birth and care of the newborn child
  • The placement of a child for adoption or foster care
  • The care for an immediate family member (i.e., spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition
  • Medical leave when you are unable to work because of a serious health condition

Family Medical Leave (FML) – Military Caregiver Leave

You may take up to 26 workweeks of leave in a single 12 month period to care for a “covered servicemember” or a “covered veteran” (as defined by law) with a “serious injury or illness” (as defined by law). Teammates are eligible for this leave if they are the spouse, son/daughter (of any age), parent, or “next of kin” (as defined by law) of a covered servicemember or covered veteran.

For purposes of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Military Caregiver Leave, the single 12-month period begins on the first day an eligible teammate takes Military Caregiver Leave and ends 12 months later. The leave entitlement described in this section applies once per-covered service member/veteran, per-serious injury/illness. However, no more than 26 weeks of FMLA leave may be taken within a single 12-month period by any eligible teammate. Even in circumstances where a teammate takes other leave covered by the FMLA, the combined leave shall not exceed 26 weeks during that 12-month period.

Domestic Partners Leave

RP recognizes that you may also need to take time off for those not defined as family members under the FML. Following the same eligibility requirements as FMLA, you may be eligible for 12 weeks of unpaid leave for the care of your domestic partner with a serious health condition.

Personal Leave

A teammate who does not qualify for a FML (or who has exhausted their leave entitlement) or needs to be away from work for a non-qualifying FML reason may request a personal leave. This is approved at RP’s discretion based on business needs. Note that unlike leaves granted and administered in accordance with federal/state law, this leave type does not offer job or pay protection.
