Critical Illness insurance
Critical Illness insurance from MetLife helps protect against the financial impact of certain serious illnesses, such as:
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Cancer
This benefit is in addition to your core medical plan, but it does not replace medical coverage. This plan provides a lump-sum payment in the event of a diagnosis, so you can use it to help offset out-of-pocket medical expenses (deductibles and coinsurance), or to cover your household expenses while you are ill. Critical Illness benefits are payable regardless if you are enrolled in any other insurance plans. You can claim Health Screening Benefit ($50/ year) if you complete one of the covered screening/prevention tests. Review Health Screening Claim Form for more information.
Eligibility
Eligible teammates and dependents can elect coverage anytime during the year, regardless of prior health history. If you would like to enroll in Critical Illness insurance outside of your new hire or open enrollment period, please log into UKG and select “Change to Voluntary Coverage” as the Life Event.
